Lived in Bars- Cat Power

Amazing song; amazing woman.

we've lived in bars
and danced on the tables
hotels trains and ships that sail
we swim with sharks
and fly with aeroplanes in the air

send in the trumpets
the marching wheelchairs
open the blankets and give them some air
swords and arches bones and cement
the lights and the dark of the innocent of men

we know your house so very well
and we will wake you once we've walked up
all your stairs

there's nothing like living in a bottle
and nothing like ending it all for the world
we're so glad you will come back
every living lion will lay in your lap
the kid has a homecoming the champion the horse
who's gonna play drums guitar or organ with chorus
as far as we've walked from both of ends of the sand
never have we caught a glimpse of this man

we know your house so very well
and we will bust down your door if you're not there

we've lived in bars
and danced on tables
hotels trains and ships that sail
we swim with sharks
and fly with aeroplanes out of here
out of here

.

The other day while i was walking home there was this really interesting character sitting on a random bench playing a guitar. He looked like one of those people that you just want to sit down and have a conversation with but you don't because you're too shy. In my case i wanted to take a portrait of him but i didn't because i was too shy to ask.

Syracuse

This past May i took a trip to Syracuse, NY to attend my best friends graduation. I was still living in Miami at the time and since i was flying to these parts of the US i decided to take a trip into the city before i headed to Syracuse. Since I had never ridden on an Amtrak before, i decided to take a train to syracuse instead of flying there. Earlier that month, I let a friend borrow my camera for a photo class so i didn't have a camera on my trip. I missed so many photo opportunity on that trip. I still think about it today and it makes me sad.

Heavy bag

I hate having a heavy bag so for the most part i tend to leave my camera at home. This is a habit i lately been trying to rid my self of.

I always see funny situations on the train and i rarely have my camera on me to capture them. The other day I was sitting on the subway on my way home from work and a few kids get on and start break dancing. I really wish I would have been able to take shots of them.

Miami

Whenever i carry my camera around miami i feel like a tourist in my own city. I hate that feeling so much that i tend to stuff my camera in my back-pack. I always wanted to take pictures of the homeless people in down town but because i was always rushing to class and didn't have it at hand i lost so many opportunities. I always remember this one time an old homeless guy was sitting down on the sidewalk and the light was just right. Everything about the frame i saw in my head was perfect, except i didn't take the shot.

juxtapositions

The other day i was shooting a roll of film at Union Square in hopes of finding something interesting. Just as i shoot my last exposure two men walking their dogs cross in front of me. Normally this wouldn't bother me but the difference this time around was that one was walking a Mastiff and the other was walking a chihuahua.
